SIZE
The shoulder-height is 55 - 6lcm (21 1/2 - 24in) for dogs and 54 - 59cm (21 1/2 - 23 1/2in) for bitches.

COAT
The Epagneul Francis coat consists of medium-length lightly or strongly waved fine hairs. The colour is always white with brown patches, with or without brown spots.

CARE REQUIRED
This breed needs to be groomed with brush and comb about once each week. Check the ear passages regularly to ensure they are clean and trim any excess hair between the pads of the feet.

CHARACTER
These are lovable and affectionate dogs that are obedient, eager to learn, energetic yet calm in the home. The Epagneul Francais has considerable stamina, a good scenting nose, and generally barks little.

TRAINING
This dog needs a soft-handed but consistent approach. They like to please their handler so training is not very difficult.

SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR
These dogs are friendly with everyone and any­thing, including other dogs, household animals, and children. They will bark though if they sense danger.

EXERCISE
This through-and-through field sports dog does not belong in front of the hearth all day long. If you are unable or unwilling to work this dog in the field, you must find another form of exercise for them. They are normally mad keen on water and love to retrieve.
